My name is Jessica Douglas. I'm a freelance artist who specializes in mixed media paintings.I was very fortunate that my parents realized I loved art at a young age, and lucky enough to pass the entrance interview at the visual arts college when I was six years old.
I've been doing art ever since.
My art primarily focuses on spiritual and religious themes, with a fantasy twist. I'm an atheist, but that doesn't mean I don't have the same questions about where we come from, why we're here, how to deal with loss and death, love, hope, gratitude, etc. etc.
I use fantasy as my subject matter to explore those intangible subjects, so that I can better understand how I view the world.
I work with watercolors, colored pencils, and then anything I can get my hands on.
My work often has gemstones, czech glass, fossils, dinosaur bones, beads, and even slag metal from my metalworking hobby.
I live in Utah, so we do a lot of rock hounding expeditions which is where I get a lot of my materials.
I've shown at exhibits all around the world, from a visions of the apocalypse gallery show in Italy, to a celebration of religious and spiritual diversity at the Springville Museum of Fine Art in Utah.
My work is currently on display at the Pandemonium Gallery in Ogden Utah. Upcoming exhibits include the Eight and sand gallery in Seattle, the Penumbra gallery in Portugal, the Urban Arts Festival in Utah, Dragoncon, World con, and Salt City Steamfest.
I spend my days at home with my two service dogs (one retired, one in training), my family and my plethora of art supplies.
Always see what's happening with Jessica on her pages.
